[ About ]

Frontend developer. Product builder.

Hi, I’m David. I build frontend software for startups and nimble teams.

For over six years, I’ve worked on early-stage products where I take rough concepts and turn them into fast, responsive web applications. I do my best work in small teams with short feedback loops, where everyone cares about how the product actually feels to use. I care most about the details users feel but rarely notice: layouts that hold up, pages that load fast, and complex workflows that feel simple.

My day-to-day focus is building interfaces with React, Next.js, and modern CSS, but I’m pragmatic about stack choices. If native browser features solve a problem better, I’ll reach for those instead. On the backend, I’ve built services with Node, Express, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, along with some C#/.NET work.

My path into development wasn’t traditional. Before writing code full-time, I split my time between IT support and playing music professionally, including five years as a full-time musician. Support taught me to troubleshoot calmly and methodically. Music gave me the creative itch that pulled me from fixing things to building them.

Offline, I’m usually reading, outside, or playing with my golden retriever. Mostly the last one. He insists.

WORKING TOGETHER

  • Independent & Self-Directed

Give me a problem space and a goal, and I'll figure out the execution. I don't need hand-holding or granular task management to ship clean work.

  • Design-Aware

I pay close attention to layout and typography. When mockups miss edge cases or blank states, I prefer to solve them directly in the browser rather than waiting for another design pass.

  • Pragmatic Communication

I keep team friction low with direct, asynchronous communication and thorough PR descriptions that give context up front.
